Lessons I Provide
Making Learning More Enjoyable
Want to blitz your AMEB exam or iron out wrinkles in your band songs or up coming performance piece? You've come to the right place.
Children from age 8 up to adults accepted.
I prepare students for grades up to AMEB grade 8. The vast majority of my students achieve an A. The lowest score my students have achieve in the past few years is one B.

For beginners, I can get you off to a great start, teaching correct technique right from the beginning in a fun and supportive environment. It is very important when learning the flute to have lessons with a specialist teacher. I have corrected the technique of numerous students who have learnt from poorly trained generalist band teachers. The flute is not difficult when taught correctly. Private lessons ensure much faster progress, as long as the student practices regularly at home.

For those ready to take the next step in their flute playing, I can assist many issues such as: – tone production – tonguing and slurring – correct posture – correct hand position – aural and rhythm training – breathing issues – range extension - music theory exams
My lessons can help with your aims: – audition preparation – going to the next level in school band – concert and competition preparation – AMEB exam preparation - HSC performance preparation - university audition advice and preparation.
Once you reach the higher AMEB grades it is important to also complete music theory grades. I can also teach you theory, with take home tasks each week, exam preparation and online exam supervision.
Learn well known classical, jazz and popular songs or challenge yourself by doing AMEB grades. I can also teach you jazz improvisation, chamber music and music theory.
Whether you’re preparing for an exam or just playing for fun or to be in band at school, for all students it is important to understand that regular practice at home is essential.
